ABOUT ME

What's up y'all? Thanks for stopping by my page!

My name is Spencer Humpherys. I am just a 27-year old guy chasing dreams and success.

I grew up in Eastern Washington, where I spent my time wrestling, working on my parents farm, doing FFA, and spending time outdoors.

After I graduated high school, I served a two-year mission for my church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was called to serve in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and I absolutely loved it. I learned Spanish while I was there, and I spent my days knocking doors, serving people and teaching them about Jesus Christ. My mission was an amazing experience and it changed me, all the way to my core.

I got married soon after my mission to my high school sweetheart, Alice. We went to college together at Brigham Young University - Idaho, where I got a business degree, as well as a personal trainer certification through NASM. During college I started a strength training business called Conquest Performance, which I ran for a year or so. This led to me getting a job as the assistant wrestling coach at Big Bend Community College.

Over the last few years at Big Bend, I have overseen recruiting and strength training, and have helped with all the other day-to-day things that come with running a college program, from fundraising to practices and competitions. In the time that I have been here, we made the jump from a club team to a full-fledged member of the NJCAA, and we have had a lot of success, cracking the top ten as a team, and having our first All-American this last year. It has been a great experience, but the work isn't finished yet, we have our eyes set on a top five finish this year!

Professionally, I had a door-to-door sales job selling fiber optic internet for awhile right out of college, and then I got a great opportunity to work for IMG Academy as a Wrestling Recruiting Coordinator. After leaving IMG, I settled in as a HR Manager for a healthcare staffing agency called Omni Staffing Services. We cover all of Eastern Washington and into Northern Idaho, and we have a staff of around 500 employees that I manage.

Outside of work, I stay busy with church, keeping up around the house, spending time with my wife and family, along with various other projects. We are currently working on building out a home gym in the shed in my backyard, and I have the privilege of being the campout specialist for the young men at church.

I am also a huge nerd, so I spend whatever time is left to me reading fantasy books, watching movies (I am a huge Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fan), listening to podcasts about history and business, or watching sports. I am a diehard BYU Football fan, and I follow USA Wrestling very closely.

My biggest two goals moving forward are to start a college wrestling recruiting business, which I am calling Ludus Recruiting, and to get back into competitive-athlete level shape again. I am going to run a Spartan Race this spring, and I hope to wrestle in the Masters division at the US Open in 2027.

Thanks for reading!
